It looks like the good folks at the Eastlake Zoo have decided to capitalize on the sandwich board that’s often in front of their establishment. In today’s economy I’d definately rather go buy a cheap glass of Pabst than invest in a shoddily constructed but very shiny new condo.

In an exhausting four and a half hour marathon Amanda and I finally finished The Wire late Sunday night. We started the day I got knee surgery which was over two months ago. We have, virtually every night, watched an episode (save of course for when we were out of town). Now that we’re done I can do all the things i’ve been meaning to get to (like this!).
What an awesome series though. The focus on crime and education in the fourth season was an excellent companion to Feakonomics which I was reading at the same time.
The Wire is hilariously, something that white people like. It’s almost comical how many of my yuppie friends are as into it as i am.
Anyway, now to make music, ride my bike (still on a trainer), build cool stuff on the internet and read! That is until we start a new show … any suggestions?

So there was another 30 for 30 event this month and we decided we needed to take advantage. Amanda, Derrick and I went out to Betty on Queen Anne and checked out their offerings. The atmosphere at Betty is pretty standard, lots of wood and good lighting. There’s a big bar that might be fun to sit at sometime as it looks in to the kitchen.
Here’s what I had, with my thoughts inline
Tortilla Chicken Soup with cilantro and lime
- This was the highlight of the meal for me. The hamhock was done to the perfection, really really tender. I’m a big tortilla soup fan and this one hit it right on. Well done!
Crispy Duck & House Sausage with French lentils and frisee salad
- I wasn’t all that happy with my entree. The sausage was quite good, but sausage always is. I liked the duck but it wasn’t just amazing a little bit too greasy. The lentils were the highlight of the dish, really flavorful. I think overall it was just a bit too salty and greasy. While those things made it tasty, they also made it heavy.
Malted Chocolate Cake with caramelized rice crisps and malt anglaise
- The cake itself was unremarkable but the caramelized rice crisps (rice crispy treats) were delicious!
Anyway, that was Betty. It was fun.

Now with more sandbox!
Kind of ghetto, but i wanted to check out sandbox, it’s neat.
Peace,
Henry
EDIT: (a week or so later) I finally cleaned this up a little. I’m considering having an IE stylesheet that’s just *{display:none}. I do IE bugs at work, not for fun.

We took advantage of this beautiful day to go take some pictures at Golden Gardens here in Seattle. All this sun gave me a taste for the summer that just … six months away.

Once again I’ve gone and broken myself. This time it looks like i’ve re-injured the knee in which i tore my ACL 11 years ago. Fun!!
Any way i’ll be tracking my upcoming ACL Repair on on a blog. Hopefully i’ll be able to share my experiences with the whole situation to make it better and easier for those who come after me.

On sunday we took a hike up Mt. Margret on sunday night. It was beautiful.
We really only made a false summit just south of the real summit. At the Y where you can go to lake Margret or Lake Lillian take the Lake Lillian trail and go about a 1/4 mile till you see a small trail go off to the left. Making the false summit is super easy and made for great views.

Everyone knows that the dudes behind “icanhazcheezburger” made a billiontyfour dollars. Well ladies and gentelmen I hope you’ll get your funny cat pictures from catornot.com from now on.
You know you love it!
Suggestions are encouraged. The image import process is still a little clunky, although i made big steps towards automating it last night. I need to figure out how to maintain the aspect ratio of images when i resize them with the python Image module, but that shouldn’t be too bad. Before long we’ll have user image uploads so you can submit your own
