Friday night was the Zillow company holiday party. Held on a boat that just happened to be the same venue as my senior prom, it was a blast. The theme of “Casino Royale” did what a Black Tie requirement never does … it got people to dress up all fancy like. We [...]

Three weeks ago I started a new gig at Zillow, which has proven fun and challenging. It’s really fun being part of a team instead of a lone ranger.
This morning I took off to climb Granite Mountain in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area just north of Snoqualmie Pass. At about 4000′ feet I ended [...]

We’re entering what I consider the very best time of year to ride a bike. Cooler temperatures make you more comfortable, all the riding you did in the summer makes you strong and the Fall color makes every ride a bit more beautiful.
Of course like any bike nerd I take pleasure in preparing myself and [...]
Tuesday after work I headed downtown on my lightly-loaded Trucker and hopped on the Ferry to Bainbridge Island, the first leg of my journey that would take me from Seattle to Guemes Island to celebrate our nation’s independence with my family.
The Seattle to Bainbridge run typifies the things I love about a ferry ride. [...]

We’re doing a total overhaul of the front end and may be re-writing the backend as well. Right now the backend is in Python/TurboGears, but we’re thinking about trying to [...]

So a couple weeks ago I got assigned to build a calendar for On The Boards, a local theater group. It was nothing too spectacular, just a php calendar with a little javascripting for rollovers and for filtering the genre of performances that would be displayed on the calendar.
I didn’t have much javascript experience but [...]

This weekend I went sailing with my dad in the San Juans.
We left mid day on friday and found ourselves battling a northwest breeze at about 20 knots. That settled down to about 10 by mid afternoon and we had a nice close hauled jaunt from the south end of Lummi Island up to a [...]

This weekend was a blast.
Friday night brought Critical Mass which was fun, although this months gathering was marred by forced religion. A topic for another day perhaps… I got the the monthly Midnight Greenlake Race a few minutes after the start so was able to serve only in an administrative role, which is probably fine [...]

Let me go on record as saying i think it’s awesome. The amount that they have increased inter-user awareness with the new products is really astounding and i believe that users will in the end become dependent on these features that they’re protesting today.
